If you add a new controlled substance to your inventory, you can add it to your log book following these instructions.
- Under Settings, select Create Inventory
- Select the Create Controlled Inventory Item button located near the top right hand side of the screen
- Select Add Item Manually and enter all information for this medication
- Enter the Inventory Item Name
- It is recommended to include the strength or concentration of the medication and the DEA schedule class of the medication in this field
- Select the appropriate Unit Size for this medication (ml, tablet, capsule, etc.)
- Select the Measurement Type (Quantity or Weight)
- Select the Schedule (I, II vs III, IV, V)
- Select the Quantity Rounding Precision (2, 3, 4, or 5 decimal places)
- Select your choice for Require Double Confirmation
- This drop down menu has 3 options:
- Not Required
- Required on Reconcile to Archive - First person saves the log entry, a second person will need to click on the log to double confirm the log is correct
- Required on Log Creation - Two people will need to be present at the same time and enter their PIN codes to save the log entry
- This drop down menu has 3 options:
- Leave the Controlled Substance checkbox selected
- Click Save
- Enter the Inventory Item Name
- Once this information has been saved, the drug will automatically show as an option at the top of the log book. If it doesn’t, you may need to refresh the window
